Pinball Tournaments (brief rules)

What Are They?

Three tournaments on three banks of machines: modern games, solid state games, and electro-mechanical games.  Play to qualify in one, two, or all three.  The top 12 finishers advance to head-to-head final matches that determine the winners.

Kids and casual players can try to qualify for bonus tournaments only for them, while still eligible for the main events!

12 players make the finals in each of the main tournaments; 8 in Casual; and 4 in Kids'.  In the casual players' tournament, the top 6 qualify and we select two players at random to make 8 finalists.  Watch for the Wild Card drawing on Sunday afternoon.

Last year, we gave away nearly $5,000 in prize money.  Actual prizes are based on entries.

When Is It?

Qualifying: Friday, 8 pm to midnight (subject to game readiness).  Saturday, 11 am until midnight and perhaps later.  Sunday, 11 am until tournament closeout:
  • Modern: 1:20 pm
  • Solid state: 2:20 pm
  • Electro-mechanical: 3:20 pm
Players must be on a machine, playing, by the cutoff times.  No refunds will be given for unplayed entries.

Finals begin immediately after qualifying:
  • Modern: 1:30 pm
  • Solid state: 2:30 pm
  • Electro-mechanical: 3:30 pm
How to Qualify

Players buy entries to qualify.  Players may buy 1 game for $5, or 3 games for $10.  Players may "mix and match" -- one 3-game entry may be played on the same game, several games in the same tournament, or games in more than one tournament.

Only a player's highest game on a machine is counted.  If you're unhappy with your score, try again.

Making the Finals

The top 27 scores on each machine are given points, 40 for 1st place, 30 for 2nd, 25 for 3rd, down to 1 point for 27th.  Across the four games in a tournament bank, add your points.  The best 12 players, in total points, advance to the finals.

In addition, a small cash prize will be awarded for each #1 score.

In the casual players' division, the top six players across all 12 total games will advance to the finals, plus two players chosen at random from all casual players' entries.
